TRADITIONAL VARNISHES

Varnishes GroupCorner Cupboard

The extensive use of polyurethane in many of today's varnishes, all too often leads to an orange-y finish as the urethanes yellow in sunlight. Our new varnishes are taken from our trade range and have been in use by tradesman and professionals for many years. They are manufactured without the use of polyurethane to produce fine non-yellowing, durable finishes, ideal for all quality work.

Varnishes should be applied with a high quality brush in thin coats, pulling the product out over the surface. Between coats the surface can be lightly abraded with flour paper or 0000 steel wool to remove any blemishes. The more Coats, the better the finish.

Brown Hard Varnish

Brown Hard Varnish 250 ml

A traditional blend of Button Shellac and Copal resin still manufactured to the same 19th Century formula. Brown Hard Varnish was widely used by the Victorians and Edwardians in churches, public buildings and the home. Brush applied, it produces a rich, transparent deep brown, high gloss surface that gives new wood a 100 year old finish. Please note that, as with shellac products, exterior use is not recommended.
